I've always followed the five second rule too. Sometimes the 8 or 9 second rule too. ;)
I don't think it's a real rule btu something we parents do when we don't want to make our kids throw out a treat they've dropped. You can't exactly rinse off a scoop of ice cream.
But bacteria can't tell time : )
I have always done the five second rule. If I am at a restraunt or something I won't follow it but if I am just at home I will.
